Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum are stepping away from their nearly decade-long marriage and getting a divorce.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the couple announced they "have lovingly chosen to separate." Tatum and Dewan first met on the 2006 movie "Step Up" and married three years later. They have a daughter, Everly, who is nearly five.

While fans online expressed their shock and sadness over the split, some media outlets pointed to signs that the union was breaking down. For instance, Dewan attended the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party alone, though she implied that Tatum was on daddy duty and "happy to have a night off." She also appeared solo at the iHeart Music Awards the next week.

But the couple was seen together on the red carpet at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on March 24 (also Everly's first public appearance). And they've been featured in each other's social media postings like this face-painting session with their daughter.

In February, Dewan told Health magazine, "When people say you guys have such a perfect life, I want to scream and tell them no one's perfect. I think there are such things as great fits. It is a great fit as long as you are growing together, and I think up until this point we've really grown together."

Perhaps they had stopped growing together. Love is dead.
