"I hate that I can't give up on you," growls Cole ("The Affair" Season 4.

All four leads of the romantic drama could say that to one another, they're that entangled in each other's lives. It's almost impossible to imagine any of them breaking away, even for their own health or peace of mind.

Cole can't quit ex-wife and baby mama Alison (Ruth Wilson). And same could be said of her with onetime affair partner, Noah (Dominic West) and in turn, the writer and his ex-wife Helen (Maura Tierney). They're all still holding onto each other, for better or for worse.

"Who couldn't you live without?" Helen wonders. The answer: It's so very complicated.

Showtime's synopsis of Season 4 reads: "Every character is involved in a new relationship, forcing them each to decide if they're ready and willing to leave the past behind for good — with a season about new beginnings, tragic ends and the ever-elusive possibility of forgiveness."

Some new faces will be in the mix, including Sanaa Lathan as a "tough-as-nails principal" of Noah's charter school (and probably a love interest). Ramon Rodriguez plays a Marine veteran who gets involved with Alison. And Phoebe Tonkin guest stars as a young artist with a connection to Cole.

"The Affair" Season 4 premieres Sunday, June 17 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
