Renee Zellweger as Judy Garland.Liza Minnelli is taking issue with a RadarOnline article that claims she and Renée Zellweger have bonded over Zellweger's portrayal of Liza's late mother, Judy Garland, in an upcoming biopic.

In a Facebook post, Minnelli rebutted the article, saying, "I have never met nor spoken to Renee Zellweger... I don't know how these stories get started, but I do not approve nor sanction the upcoming film about Judy Garland in any way. Any reports to the contrary are 100% fiction."

RadarOnline appears to have taken down the article in the meantime.

The film, titled "Judy," is a British production partly financed by BBC Films, according to The Guardian. It will focus on Garland's final appearances at a nightclub in London in 1969, a few months before her death. It's based on the stage play "End of the Rainbow" by Peter Quilter.

Gemma-Leah Devereux of "The Tudors" is playing 23-year-old Liza in the film, which is set to be released on November 30 in the US.

Minnelli was born in 1946 to Garland and her second husband, "Meet Me in St. Louis" director Vincente Minnelli. She often performed with her mother onstage.

She won a Best Actress Oscar for 1972's "Cabaret," but younger fans might know her better as Lucille Austero (aka "Lucille Two") on "Arrested Development."
