Rosie Perez is heading go Gotham City.

The Oscar-nominated actress is joining "Birds of Prey," the girl gang group led by Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. She'll play Renee Montoya, a detective on the Gotham police.

Like Harley Quinn, Renee's character originated on "Batman: The Animated Series" before crossing over to the comic books. She is one of the few openly LGBTQ characters in superhero comics. She eventually donned a costume as The Questioner.

Perez, who earned an Academy Award nomination for 1993's "Fearless" and recently starred in NBC's musical drama "Rise," now joins a cast including Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who are playing Black Canary and Huntress, respectively. The movie is still looking for someone to play Cassandra Cain, reimagined as a 12-year-old girl, and the villain Black Mask.

"Birds of Prey" is slated for release February 7, 2020.
