"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" was a very big winner at the 2019 Annie Awards, which handed out trophies Saturday. The movie won all seven categories in which it was nominated, including best animated feature, direction and writing.

"Spider-Man" also earned prizes for character animation, character design, editing and production design. This is the first time Sony Pictures Animation has won the top award.

The acclaimed film now goes into the Oscars as the favorite. Four of the five last Annie best feature winners have gone on to the take the Academy Award (the exception was in 2016 when "How to Train Your Dragon" won the Annie but "Big Hero 6" won the Oscar).
