With "Elementary" ending soon, star Lucy Liu is looking ahead to her next series.

The actress is developing the anthology series “Unsung Heroes" at ABC Studios International.

The scripted show will tell the "untold stories of incredible women who overcame adversity to become pioneers of their time."

The first episode will chronicle Asian-American film and theater actress Anna May Wong, whose films include "Shanghai Express" with Marlene Dietrich. Wong had hoped to play the lead of Chinese farmer's wife O-lan in the 1937 production of "The Good Earth," but that role went to Austrian actress Luise Rainer, who won her second Best Actress Oscar for the role.

Liu will executive produce the series through her Moonvision Entertainment production company.

She recently landed the leading role in the upcoming CBS All Access dramedy "Why Women Kill."
