If you're overdue for a good scare, never fear -- "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" is coming.

The upcoming horror flick comes from CBS Films, Lionsgate, and eOne, and the official trailer dropped Monday. It teases a scary story centering on a group of teens who happen upon a terrifying book. The André Øvredal-directed film is based on the children's book series by Alvin Schwartz. Dan and Kevin Hageman wrote the screenplay, based on a screen story by Guillermo del Toro, Patrick Melton, and Marcus Dunstan.

Set in 1968, "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" brings terror to Mill Valley when a group of teens discover an old book written by a tortured young girl named Sarah. They find a lot more than they bargained for in its pages, and it makes for some chilling trailer scenes. Watch below.

The movie stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn. Del Toro produced alongside Sean Daniel, Jason F. Brown, J. Miles Dale, and Elizabeth Grave.

"Scary Stories to tell in the Dark" opens Aug. 9.
