Ever since it was canceled in May, Lee Daniels has been fighting to find a new home for his Fox series "Star."

In a video posted to Instagram today, Daniels announced: "The bad news is that 'Star' is not going to be picked up for series, but the good news is that we're doing a movie of the week to wrap up things up for y’all."

Daniels did not reveal any details about where or when "Star" finale would appear, or if all the cast members would be back.

The series, which starred Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady, and Ryan Destiny as a musical trio, debuted in December 2016 as a lead-in to "Empire." It also costarred Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt.

Since it was a was a Fox series, it seems unlikely a finale would air anywhere else. However, spokespeople for 20th Century Fox TV and Fox Entertainment did not respond to Deadline‘s request for comment today.

Daniels has previously promised that viewers “have not seen the last” of "Star" and vowed to create "closure" for fans of the show.
