Won't you be Tom Hanks' neighbor?

The first trailer for "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" reveals the Oscar winner into Fred Rogers aka Mr. Rogers, host of the classic and beloved children's show.

The movie is based on the true story of the friendship that formed between Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. The trailer features Matthew Rhys ("The Americans") as the cynical writer who warily accepts the assignment of profiling of Rogers and ends up forming a deep and lasting connection with him.

"Sometimes we have to ask for help and that’s okay,” Rogers says“I think the best thing we can do is to let people know that each one of them is precious."

With Hanks being as famous as he is, and with Mr. Rogers being as iconic as he is, it's an interesting casting choice. Hanks doesn't exactly disappear into the role, but the goodwill and charm and Nice Guy Energy he brings fit so well, that it hardly matters.

The film is directed by Marielle Heller ("Can You Ever Forgive Me?") and also stars Susan Kelechi Watson, Enrico Colatoni, and Chris Cooper.

"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" opens in theaters November 22.
