Plot Summary
A tough boxer with rural roots, Harlan "Mountain" McClintock (Jack Palance) has been in the ring for years and is an accomplished fighter. Unfortunately, McClintock's extensive time sparring has worn him down, and he is advised to stop boxing. However, Maish Rennick (Keenan Wynn), his unscrupulous manager, wants to keep McClintock in fights in order to bet against him. With the help of a lovely social worker (Kim Hunter), McClintock attempts to move on from his violent line of work.
