Blake Shelton was just named People's Sexiest Man Alive, and even he's confused.

When People asked what went through his mind when he heard he had the 2017 honor, Shelton answered, "That y'all must be running out of people. Like, Wow, we're down to somebody who is somewhat symmetrical."

Shelton said he's happiest to be able to brag about the honor to his fellow "The Voice" coach Adam Levine, who was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 2013. "I can't wait to shove this up Adam's ass. As proud as I am and honored that you guys asked me, that's really the only thing I care about."

So he's happy, and his fans are happy. Many people have responded to say they're glad Shelton was named Sexiest Man Alive. They agree with the choice.

But let's be honest. There are more critics of the pick, and their reactions are MUCH more amusing.

Does anyone really "deserve" the title? It's weird that we even have annual titles like this, and People's Most Beautiful Woman, which also has a heated reaction every year.

The choices do seem to come down to who has something to promote at the time, and who agrees to the honor, and other publicity concerns (like Shelton's high-profile romance with Gwen Stefani), as opposed to all of our personal faves. That said, Jason Momoa is in "Justice League," coming out this week, so it could've made sense to pick Aquaman. Just saying. Or Keanu Reeves at any time at all. Or Idris Elba. Or Chris Evans. Or Sterling K. Brown. Or...
