With "Game of Thrones" ending this week — have you heard? — every network, streaming service, and their mothers are trying to fill the dragon-sized gap the HBO fantasy series will leave behind. And Hulu may have the dragon-sized answer.

Deadline reports that Hulu is developing a pilot based on the Stephen King's 1984 novel "The Eyes of the Dragon," a fantasy novel with a medieval setting and a battle between good and evil. Sound familiar?

Seth Grahame-Smith ("Lego Batman Movie") is writing the pilot and will serve as showrunner.

The project comes from Fox 21 studio and was subject to a bidding war between Hulu and Apple.

The story, set in the fictional realm of Delain, focuses on two prince brothers and a conniving magician who manipulates them in an effort to destroy their royal family.

That magician's name is Flagg, a villain from "The Stand" and "The Dark Tower" series.

King wrote this book for his children, but his fans screamed bloody murder that he'd taken a break from his horror novels. That led to his writing "Misery."

There have been a couple attempts at adapting "Eyes of the Dragon," including one by Syfy in 2012. The source material has been considered difficult to adapt for the screen; then again, they said that about George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" books.

“I am so excited to be working in the world of Stephen King with with Hulu, which has such a terrific track record with Stephen King adaptations,” Grahame-Smith told Deadline.

“The goal for this series is to feel unlike any Stephen King adaptation before, with this rich underlying source material, and the only true fantasy book he wrote that has kings and swords and princesses. We will honor the spirit of the book and the legacy.”
