I had the pleasure of seeing some it being filmed in San Fransisco. Both he and wife, were very charming, and so easy to talk to! His costar was very snooty, and annoyed because some of the sets were ... not there yet.I was never a fan of Miss Bacall anyway. It was fun for me, he was so down to earth, and playing gin rummy with one of boys in the Navy, who was around the dock, where the filming would take place. The sailor had to leave, and he asked me if I played rummy. On the first draw, I had gin, and I didn\'t say so, but after a few minutes he guessed and threw his cards down. He was a complete gentleman, and my favorite actor, even to this day I treasure his memory, and also his wife, Pilar, a little doll who never quite reached his underarm. He was a patriot, and loved our country, That was not one of my favorite movies, but I loved them alll, and still do. He wa a man\'s man, and said it like it was, not at all phony. I was much younger than he was, but if he had asked to, I would have tripped over matchsticks to get on that saddle. LOL! I am now 80, and he is still and always will be one of the greats.
