  • Welcome Damsels in Distress, an exhilarating gift of a comedy about college, the female intellect, the limitless male ego, inventing a new dance, and suicide prevention. show more

  • Highbrow campus-comedy from long-lost Whit Stillman is a flawed but frequently hilarious comeback. show more

  • How much you enjoy Damsels will depend on your tolerance for Stillman's particular brand of duct-taped Sperry Topsider whimsy. It's a comedy! It's a musical! It's a trip down memory lane to revisit the blissful confusion of our - or someone's - college years! show more

I am a 63 year old woman, who went to college in the 60\'s. First a Catholic Women\'s college on the San Francisco peninsula, then San Jose State(when SDS and Juan Carlos were there) then UCSC. This brought back many vivid memories of those college days, frats, mixers at Stanford, USF, Moraga, rival colleges-Mills. Our self pretentious selves, oh happy days.

It might have been funnier if I could better hear what they were saying. I\'m not sure whether the fault was with the soundtrack or the theater sound system, but the sound was often not as clear as it should have been.
