This is one of the scariest movies featuring female heroines since the "Alien" series, and what makes it uniquely scary is where these women are -- in tunnels two miles under ground -- when they realize they are not alone. show more

Neil Marshall's horrifically terrific The Descent cannily recasts 1972's "Deliverance" as a female-bonding thriller with some "Hills Have Eyes"-style mutant terror tossed in for truly harrowing effect. show more

A movie that not only entertains, and scares, but passes the Bechdel test too!

Definitely a good movie. The first thing to know is that this is a suspense movie. This movie takes a LONG time to build up. It spends a lot time crawling through tight tunnels, which was VERY suspenseful. You could feel the claustrophobia yourself. However, if you do not like suspense driven movies (like The Blair Witch Project), then this movie is not for you. But I guarantee that if you stick around for the second half of the gets much better and you will be scared. The second thing to know is that there are two endings. The EUROPEAN version had an AMAZING ending which, for some reason, the AMERICAN version did not have. I don\'t want to spoil it, but the last 60 seconds of the movie make it SO much better and it is absolutely necessary to get the European version. The last thing you need to know is that although there it is rated R for all the gore near the end. There is no nudity. Even though it is dark and hard to see things, it is still pretty gross. All in all, despite the fact that it was a little too gross for my tastes, it was an awesome movie that had all my favorite elements of horror in it: suspense, startling, shock, twist ending, psychological breakdown and edge of your seat scariness.

I loved this movie. The only thing I didn't like was that they jipped the American audience when it came to the ending. The ending that European audience got to see was much better then the ones that we we're shown. We don't need happy endings in order to like a movie.

I expected a trick ending...but it made so sense at all.. and I am a horror fan.!!! Rating 0 or minus if I could give it this

Amazing. This is the best horror film of the decade. Niel Marshall is phenomenal at directing this. Must see.
