George and Amal Clooney are parents to twin babies, a girl and boy.
"This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine," the couple said in a statement. "George is sedated and should recover in a few days."
These are the first children for the 56-year-old actor and the 39-year-old human rights lawyer. The couple wed in 2014 in Italy.
Clooney once famously said he never wanted children. But after news of Amal's pregnancy broke, he was as ecstatic and proud as any father-to-be.
"We are really happy and really excited. It's going to be an adventure," he said on a French news program. "We've sort of embraced it all with arms wide open."
Clooney also joked about starting fatherhood later in life.
"My favorite part is, you know, all my friends who are my age, and I have many of them, they're already done," he noted. "Their kids are all grown up and away to college and they are laughing."
