'Major Crimes' Was Just Canceled, and the Team Is Throwing Shade at TNT

"Major Crimes" will end after Season 6, and it sounds like there's a lot of frustration behind-the-scenes.

TVLine revealed that the popular spinoff to "The Closer," starring Mary McDonnell, will end after this upcoming season, which starts Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 9 p.m. on TNT. There will be 13 episodes, including the series' 100th episode, which will air December 19. The series finale will be two episodes airing January 16, 2018.

James Duff created "Major Crimes" and he's directing the Season 6/series finale. He posted some early thoughts on the cancellation, and you can definitely feel his frustration with the network:

Star Mary McDonnell also shared a note thanking the wonderful fans for their loyalty to the show, and throwing her own shade at the network, writing, "Trying to make sense of TNT's choices is an activity that James Duff and [executive producer] Mike Robin and all of us have been engaged in for a long time. We tried as best we could, believe me."

Dear #GREATESTFANSEVER Firstly, we all move on to the next TOGETHER. Secondly, as many of you have stated, this was not a surprise. The writing was clearly on the wall. Trying to make sense of TNT's choices is an activity that James Duff and Mike Robin and all of us have been engaged in for a long time. We tried as best we could, believe me. And we are extremely proud of the work and particularly proud of Season Six. You deserved a season with great depth and that is what you will be given. We will go thru it with you. Fans were not happy with the cancellation news, and are hoping it's not too late for the show -- on TNT or another network/platform:

The final season of "Major Crimes" will premiere Halloween night on TNT.
