UPDATE: Sophia Bush was right that the stars didn't reunite for a special "One Tree Hill" revival. And yet, the four OTH stars did reunite for a joint project -- an upcoming holiday movie called "The Christmas Contract," airing later this year on Lifetime. Head to Deadline for more details on the TV movie.

It's a mystery!

"One Tree Hill" fans are still wondering what to expect this #Christmas2018.

Several OTH stars posted Instagram photos showing a reunion gathering, with the actors then teasing that Christmas hashtag. It looked like maybe the show would get a Christmas special. However, according to Sophia Bush, that's not the case. More on that below.

After teasing OTH fans with these reunion pics, the stars decided to delete all of the posts. But the stars must be savvy enough by now to know that The Internet Saves Everything. So they knew fans would hold on to the pics from Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer), Robert Buckley (Clay Evans), Danneel Ackles (Rachel Gatina), and Antwon Tanner (Skills).

Here they are:

What is going on?

According to TVLine, the reunion was held in Lafayette, Louisiana, as opposed to the Wilmington, North Carolina area where OTH taped for its nine seasons on The WB/The CW.

And, according to Sophia Bush's (Brooke Davis) interview with Bustle, they're not actually teasing a "One Tree Hill" revival:

"It has nothing to do with our show. I'm sorry. There are no plans. I don't know if that's to say there never will be, but literally there is not a single discussion of a plan in the works at all."

TV Guide has screen captures of the original Instagram posts, showing that Sophia Bush liked Hilarie Burton's photo. If the "One Tree Hill" stars were not reuniting for something involved with the show, what were they doing? Bush didn't say.

Stay tuned for details on what's actually happening this Christmas.
