"Dancing With the Stars" Season 25, but the initial lineup already has some surprises of its own.

"Good Morning America" announced most of the professional dancers Thursday morning, and their celebrity partners -- plus the surprise pro -- will be announced on GMA on September 6. The Fall 2017 Season 25 premieres Monday, Sept. 18 on ABC.

UPDATE: Yep, the surprise pro is apparently Cheryl Burke. A source told Entertainment Tonight, "She's really excited to return to her roots. She doesn't want to let anyone down, so you can expect she will be bringing her A-game every night!"

Back to original post:

Beloved pro Mark Ballas took two seasons off -- including to get married, and star in "Jersey Boys" on Broadway -- but he was on GMA this morning to explain why he's returning.

Here are the stars who've been announced at this point, including newly married pros Maks and Peta, and reigning pro champ Emma, plus .. Alan!

  • Mark Ballas
  • Peta Murgatroyd
  • Maksim Chmerkovskiy
  • Val Chmerkovskiy
  • Emma Slater
  • Gleb Savchenko
  • Keo Motsepe
  • Sharna Burgess
  • Lindsay Arnold
  • Artem Chigvintsev
  • Witney Carson
  • Alan Bersten

Congrats to Alan in his first season as a competing pro, after being the official stand-in guy for injured pros. Good luck!

It's unfortunate to not see Sasha Farber back, or see Jenna Johnson get another chance as a competing pro. Will she be the surprise pro? Derek Hough has been a "surprise" addition in the past, but could he return to DWTS and also judge NBC's "World of Dance"? Also, there are already seven male pros and only five female pros at this point, so it seems like they'd want to add another woman. Maybe an "old school" favorite like Edyta, or Kym, or ... Cheryl Burke? Can we dream?

The full cast will be revealed Wednesday, Sept. 6 on GMA. (We already know the first two stars cast.) Season 25 starts Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
