The "X-Men" franchise is going to scary new places.

Fox released the first trailer for "The New Mutants," the next installment of their successful "X-Men" franchise. Like "Logan" and "Deadpool" before it, "New Mutants" is a very different kind of "X-Men" movie. While "Logan" was a brooding Western and "Deadpool" a snarky comedy, "New Mutants" clearly fits into the horror genre.

Five teen mutants are kept in a secret facility, where they are interrogated by Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Alicia Braga). Not only do they have to contend with the development of their own powers, but soon, they face an unknown menace. "This isn't a hospital; it's a haunted house!" one says.

The movie stars Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones") as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy ("Split") as Magik, Charlie Heaton ("Stranger Things") as Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, and Blu Hunt as Mirage.

"The New Mutants" opens in theaters on April 13, 2018.
