TV's 26 Longest-Running Shows, From Youngest to Oldest

Moviefone
April 11, 2016 - 1 min read

These days, new television shows are lucky to see a second season, but a chosen few have been airing for so long that they will probably still be around when we're dead and buried. Here are longest-running TV shows still on TV, from youngest to oldest.

'The Big Bang Theory'

Sheldon Cooper's been yelling "Bazinga" since September 24, 2007.

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'

This wacky crew has been up to no good since August 4, 2005.

'Hell's Kitchen'

Gordon Ramsey has been instilling terror in cooks and viewers since May 30, 2005.

'Dancing With the Stars'

What were you doing on June 1, 2005? Probably watching the first season of "Dancing With the Stars" like the rest of America.

'Bones'

Booth and Brennan have been our crime-fighting OTP since September 13, 2005.

'Supernatural'

The Winchester brothers have been dying and coming back to life since September 13, 2005. That's a lot of resurrections.

'Grey's Anatomy'

Shonda Rhimes has been killing our faves since March 27, 2005.

'NCIS'

Back on September 23, 2003, "NCIS" was a newbie. Now, it has spin-offs in Los Angeles and New Orleans.

'The Amazing Race'

Since "The Amazing Race" has been on since September 5, 2001, it's proven that people will do just about anything for money.

'Survivor'

Even though it's been on since May 31, 2000, the most memorable moment of "Survivor" will always be girls getting naked for peanut butter.

'Big Brother'

We've been (creepily) watching a group of isolated people play games since July 5, 2000.

'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'

Olivia Benson got her start bringing in the perps on September 20, 1999, along with her partner Elliot Stabler. She's gone through a few partners since then, but almost 17 years later, she's still slaying.

'Spongebob SquarePants'

We've been wanting to taste a Krabby Patty since May 1, 1999. One day...

'Family Guy'

He's been our family guy since January 31, 1997.

'South Park'

After you realize "South Park" has been on since August 13, 1997, think about how many times Kenny has died. Yeah.

'The Real World'

We found out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real when the show debuted May 21, 1992.

'The Simpsons'

Our favorite animated family since December 17, 1989.

'The Bold and the Beautiful'

The stars of this show have been both bold and beautiful (nothing more and nothing less) since March 23, 1987.

'Jeopardy'

Even though the show originally started in 1964, it didn't become the show it is now until its revival premiered September 10, 1984.

'Wheel of Fortune'

Vanna White has worn more than 5,000 gowns since the show's premiere on September 19, 1983.

'Saturday Night Live'

"SNL" has been serving us comedy legends on a silver platter since October 11, 1975.

'The Young and the Restless'

With a show that's been on since March 26, 1973, it's safe to say that a good portion of the actors have appeared on thousands of episodes. Their bank accounts must be very happy.

'The Price Is Right'

What's even crazier than this show having been on since September 4, 1972, is that it's only been through two daytime hosts in its almost 44-year run.

'Sesame Street'

We wouldn't know how to count if Big Bird and the gang hadn't invaded America's living rooms on November 10, 1969.

'Days of Our Lives'

Joey Tribbiani had the honor of being on the show, which debuted on November 8, 1965.

'General Hospital'

TV's longest running show debuted on April 1, 1963.
