The first teaser for the upcoming revival of beloved '90s series "Murphy Brown" made it clear that the show wouldn't shy away from tackling the current political climate. Now, the revelation of when the show will take place only further confirms that commitment.

During a panel discussion at the Television Critics Association summer press tour over the weekend, the cast and crew of "Murphy" dished about the new episodes, which will feature the return of most of the original cast, led by titular star Candice Bergen. And the series will dive right into the biggest political story of our time: The most recent presidential election, with the show opening on November 8, 2016.

According to creator Diane English, the show will remain as topical as possible, not only critiquing today's leaders, but also diving into the #MeToo movement (the revival's fourth episode is called "#MurphyToo") and exploring the role of the press, which English insisted "is not the enemy of the people." The time was right to revisit "Murphy," according to English and Bergen, and fans should be pleased with this new batch of episodes.

"The script of the first show is so fearless...we really stick our heads in the lion's mouth," Bergen said.

"Murphy Brown" returns to CBS on Thursday, September 27 at 9:30 p.m.
