'The 4400' Reboot in the Works at The CW
"The 4400" is reappearing over a decade since it vanished into cancellation.
A reboot of USA's cult favorite sci-fi series is in the works at The CW. The original show (created by Scott Peters and René Echevarria) ran for four seasons from 2004 until 2007 and starred Joel Gretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie, and eventual Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.
It centered on a group of 4,400 young adults who all mysteriously disappeared, some as far back as 1957. Then, they miraculously show up at the sites of their original abductions, not having aged a day nor having any memory of where they've been. They must grapple with returning to a different world — while also discovering changes within themselves they can't understand.
The pilot will be co-written by Craig Sweeny (who wrote for the original series) and "Justified" alum Taylor Elmore, under the CBS Television Studios banner.
The premise of "The 4400" has since been repeated in other shows, including this season's "Manifest."
