I served aboard the USS Randall APA-224 1951-1955 as a Morse Code Radioman (RM-2) during the filing of Away All Boats. I happened to be a boat radioman aboard an LCVP during some of the filming of landing scenes. I haven't seen the movie for quite some time but recall a few of the scenes being filmed in the Carribean near the Island of Vieques (on which some of the beach scenes were filmed). I had a (tape) copy of the film which I wartched every few years and shared with my fmaily and grandkids....but somehow it became lost during one of our household moves. Loved the movie....very few war films centered around the Marines/ Amphibious Forces which played a very special role in our country's military successes in the Pacific during WWII.
