I usually hate doing end-of-year lists like this. As only a part-time reviewer of films, I tend not to see the majority of the 'best' until long after the next year has begun. I still haven't had a chance to see 'Marwencol,' for instance. And that's cited...
Action and comedy come to the fore this week as 'Iron Man 2' and 'Get Him to the Greek' arrive on DVD and Blu-ray. 'Iron Man 2' is, of course, the sequel that all Marvel fans have been waiting for; it's pumped with action sequences and a story line that...
It's the summer season, and welcome to it. Grossing $133 million over the three-day weekend -- over $30 million more than its predecessor (and not too far off my $120 million prediction, saving me the usual embarrassment for once) -- Iron Man 2 posted the...
We had another tie in last week's Trailer Park poll, as the NSFW French trailer for Enter the Void was equally as popular as the one for Paper Man. Sadly, the trailer for Grown Ups (which was popular enough to be a Google trend topic last weekend), was...
I've had a feeling that this was the best year for documentaries ever. But I also thought the feeling had to do with the fact I'm seeing a whole lot more docs now that I'm the resident doc guy here at Cinematical. I also went to my first film festival...

I don't understand what was "hippie" about the way Hattie was being raised? I thought she was being raised as most progressive Amerrican couples aspire to raise their infants today, who woul... dn't want to be the child of those well prepared, well balanced mature parents? . I am a 52 year old Grandmother and volunteer child advocate I found the movie to be utterly compelling. I found it to be artfully beautiful as well ~~ I was moved to tears more than once,. I went alone and then I couldn't stop talking about this film to my husband and friends! The movie afforded me a windw into other cultures that made me feel as if my world had been richly enlarged with every moment of every scene. Like a really good book, I was sad when it ended, I wanted more. I'm going again. Full Review
I saw this movie with my daughter and her husband. We loved it. We spent the rest of the day talking about it. I loved the contrast between the cultures. It made me think about how concerned I was... about just about EVERYTHING when my babies were little. This movie points out that babies grow, learn, survive, etc in many different lifestyles and climates. You could easily take 4 babies in the USA and the contrast would be phenomenal. I think they did a wonderful job of contrasting and comparing. In a very entertaining way. I highly recommend this movie. And not just to women. Full Review
I'm a 42yr old felmale who saw Babies with my daughter & her female friend both 10 yrs old. The USA baby Hattie IS NOT RAISED like USA babies. Hippy babies maybe, just not most babies. Movie was (okay... ) kind of boring. My daughter & her friend liked the babies & that was it. The naked people in the movie are part of life & didn't bother us. Bottom line, I thaught it WAS NOT worth the amont of money paid to see it. Okay movie, if it were cheaper or free. Full Review
