After seeing this is theaters yesterday, I can honestly say that in most aspects it is better than the previous three Bionicle films. The animation is a serious improvement. Unlike the other movies, the characters stay really true to the sets in appearance, with only two major changes--retractable mouth plates and fingers on the hands. The voice cast is pretty good, and they interact really well. Micheal Dorn is amazing as Mata Nui. You can definitely feel his authority in the way he speaks, and yet he is still very human. Jim Cummings makes an interesting Ackar, adding a lot of depth to his character and making his emotions really felt. Marla Solokoff is probably my least favorite choice, but that's more of a statement on the greatness of the whole cast. Marla does make Kiina a bit too "valley girl", and in certain parts she does way too much happiness or yelling, but overall you learn to accept her character and enjoy her. James Arnold Taylor made Berix very special and relatable. You definitely get the sense he's very misunderstood. The rest of the voice cast is okay and they do their parts well. The plot, though, is the real gem. The action is dispersed fairly well, so instead of jumping from battle to battle you have good transitions and satisfying action. Another great thing about this is that you really get a good feel for Bara Magna's culture. The villages aren't just backdrops for battles, they are places not unlike our own. The rest of the plot is good, with a lot of mystery and a satisfying ending that still leaves enough left open for the next movie. While the final battle isn't too great, a lot of the rest of the movie makes up for that, so I didn't mind. And the traitor's identity is kept secret for a lot of the film, and they even throw in some clues to keep you guessing. All in all a very good film, and the best in the series. So far.
