After a long flight on my part and a far longer drive for both of us, Scott Weinberg and I have finally arrived in Montréal for the FanTasia International Film Festival (their thirteenth, our first). The genre-heavy festival lasts for nearly three...
I've gotten behind on my usually-faithful upkeep of a monthly DVD guide, so when Weinberg sent a long a list of all the titles hitting shelves today, I was a little overwhelmed. My wallet has been taking a pounding lately, and this new crop of catalog...

Are you ready to be disturbed? In this world where anything goes and nothing seems to phase anyone since we have all lost our innocence long ago, perhaps this film "Deadgirl" will have a... few scenes up its sleeve to surprise you and make you squirm in your seats. I know I did. I saw this film at the Florida Film Fest this past month at the Enzian Theater in Orlando, a great place for drinks and snacks, but not a good film to watch while you are eating or drinking. Perhaps your stomach could stomach watching "Deadgirl" while imbibing and digesting. I could not. I dig crawl up into my seat many times, wrapping myself in my scarf in an attempt to escape the revulsion that certain scenes elicited. Some guys will back me up on this. If it was disturbing for me to watch as a woman, I can only imagine that some of youe guys will be man enough to say *************** you out also, and I am not talking about the dead naked woman herself. That was no big deal, it was simply the particular scenarios involving the characters and their interactions, shall I say, that really got to me. This is not your average horror film and that is a good thing indeed. Some of us still like to think even while witnessing some very good splatter and effects after we have gotten to know the characters a bit. And some characters did get bit. Just wait until you see who. Full Review
