Getting creeped out has never seemed this totally cool. show more

It is pure, retro-cinematic joy. show more

Frankenweenie is a love story between a boy and his dog. It is also a beautifully crafted homage to classic horror films, a study of grief and a commentary on the mysteries of science and those who narrow-mindedly fear its advances. show more

It's not so much a miscalculation of his audience by Burton as it is a disregard. What lingers after Frankenweenie, far more than its stunning technique, is a sad suggestion of solipsism. show more

Burton's extraordinary powers of imagination are in dazzling bloom, from the gorgeous stop-motion animation to the goofy, homemade horror movies the children direct. show more

    Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter

It is nonetheless imaginative in a highly familiar and ultimately tedious way. show more

The picture is frustrating not because it's bad, but because of how almost-good it is. show more

It's probably too early to peg Frankenweenie as Burton's comeback vehicle, but it's certainly the director's best movie in twenty years. show more

The movie, a simple yet immensely pleasurable tale of a little boy and his undead dog, is good enough on its own. If you know the back story, it's even better. show more

This delightfully twisted story about a boy and his (dead) dog showcases precisely what Burton excels at: blending the macabre and the heartfelt in a perfect, if oddball, union. show more

I believe you\'re missing something here... This is a Tim Burton film. Tim Burton movies are creepy and a lot of them are for kids. I saw Nightmare Before Xmas in theaters when I was 10. I hated it. I\'m not a huge Tim Burton fan, either. But frankly, Frankenweenie is quite the masterpiece.

Grandmother took 4 and 10 year old. I agree with other reviewers NOT FOR KIDS. Should have a \"C\" rating for CREEPY. The 10 yr old said \'thanks for taking me to the movie even though I DID NOT LIKE IT\". Toward the end the 4 yr old turned around and did not look. I should have reviewed prior but they really wanted to see it. The cat poop initials - that was just nasty.

This black and white movie had an amazing story with action, love, and a bit of tear-jerking. You can also bring the kids. You should see it!

I know that a lot of people really like this movie, but i thought it was just horrible. One of my favorite movies is The Nightmare Before Christmas and i was ecspecting this to be a good movie too, but anyone that is going to see the movie should know that it is all in black and white. There is also some weird parts that dont make sense in the story.

i took my 4 year old son to see this mainly cause we love Tim burten movies and we also have a dog named franky which he thought was the best in the world. he loved the movie and so did i would def go see it again and will be buying it when it come out on DVD. the black and white didn\'t bother him cause i make sure his movie experiances have been varied he watches all sorts of old time flicks with me from John Wayne westerns to Audrey Hepburn romances and he loves them all gotten love having a movie fanatic for a kiddo just like his momma.
