The grit and endurance of those who lived in the Lodz Ghetto are uncovered by Kathryn Taverna and Alan Adelson through photos, archival footage and letters. Around 200,000 Jews were forced into the ghetto in early 1940 by the Nazis. The words of the ghetto liaison Mordechai Rumkowski to the Nazis are voiced by actor Jerzy Kosinski, while other narratives tell of the slave labor conditions and the eventual deportations to concentration camps. All told, only 800 survived the ghetto.
