Classic French humour.: I was surprised and delighjted with the sustained and classic French humour in Potiche and the ourtstinding performances of... atherine Deneuve and Gerard Depardieu. I belong to their generation so I have followed their professional careers and I also relate to the social issues in the film. I give the actors five stars for their performances and the film five stars for sustained humoir, entertainment and character development. It deals with the classic irony and humour of the changing roles and power plays between man and woman. It deals with the social changes which provide the opportunities to destroy stereotypes and llberate the postive and creative potential of each person irrespective of their gender. This film is maybe not for everyone, depending upon thieir own sense of humour and their appreciation for French humoor. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and highly recommed it for anyone who just wants to watch it. accept what happens and laugh at the unexpected. is entertainment value. Full Review
It has a certain charm to it for sure but comes short of being a must e. It is sub titled if that is a problem for some of you. Denieuve looks nice... but matronly which does not bode well for people who were not beautiful to begin with, like most us. For me the movie got tiresome and somewhat boring. Believe me there is a lot worst out there for sure and it gets credit for no explosions, no gratuitous nudity or violence> And best of all Vin Diesel and Nick Cage are not in it. Full Review
Funny and clever. Deneuve and Depardieu can still bring it to the big screen - GREAT movie!
