The actor recently won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for playing Winston Churchill in "The Crown." There are no details about his role in "Pitch Perfect 3," but it's easy to imagine Lithgow as a snooty judge or demanding coach.
The sequel brings back all of the Barden Bellas, including Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, and Hailee Steinfeld. Elizabeth Banks is also set to return, but only on screen — she will not be directing the third film. Lithgow joins other a cappella newbies Ruby Rose and Andy Allo.
The cast members have already been sharing sneak peeks from the set as they film the movie. Kendrick posted this group shot recently:
