"The Bachelor" Season 21's Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi are newly engaged, but no one told their faces. If you watched last night's "After the Final Rose" special with the sound off (which might actually be for the best) you'd swear they were announcing their breakup instead of the start of their lives together.

They looked so uncomfortable, even with each other, not just the live audience filled with Team Raven fans. It was like Brad and Emily all over again, if not straight on to Jake and Vienna. (They didn't get THAT tense -- there was no hand-chop interrupting or tears.) Yeah, Nick and Vanessa are being "realistic" about their relationship, but does that mean they're just counting the days until a breakup?

Fans were left confused, wondering if they should be happy for the couple or sad that they've already been fighting and struggling -- and are now going to spend more time apart as Nick goes straight to "Dancing With the Stars."

To be fair, Nick and Vanessa did look happier on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night, and they posed for a cute Instagram photo together:

As Nick wrote with that photo, "Holy sh*t she said yes!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️. It's been a journey Bachelor National!! @vanessagrimaldi30 I love you!! #thebachelor"

Right after their awkward "ATFR" interview with Chris Harrison, the couple addressed fan criticism to People. Nick said, "I hope we came across as in love and passionate tonight. The reality is — we joke about it, but it's true — we don't know what it's like to go to the movies together, we don't know what it's like to spend time together in the real world. Our relationship has been based off of stressful situations."

Vanessa (who had never seen a full season of "The Bachelor" before) said, "You can never make people happy. At the end of the day, we are focusing on our relationship. It's easy to focus on the negative, which sometimes I do, and Nick tries to get me out of it. But it's the world that we're living in."

Nick will next be seen on DWTS Season 24, which premieres this Monday, March 20 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
