Daniel Dae KimAfter British actor Ed Skrein dropped out of the "Hellboy" reboot to avoid whitewashing a character who was written as Japanese-American, "Hawaii Five-0" alum Daniel Dae Kim might replace him.

EW confirms that Kim is in talks to take on the role of Daimio, who an officer at the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense who can transform into a jaguar.

After the whitewashing controversies of "Doctor Strange" and "Ghost in the Shell," actually casting an Asian actor as an Asian character is being hailed as a win. Except that not everyone is happy that Kim, a Korean-American, is being sought for the role of a Japanese-American.

Kim and co-star Grace Park just left "Hawaii Five-O" when CBS refused to pay them the same salaries as the show's two leads, Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan. Upon his exit, Kim wrote, "The path to equality is rarely easy. But I hope you can be excited for the future. I am."
