Jude Law Lands 'Captain Marvel' Male Lead Role: Report
Welcome to the Marvel family, Jude Law.
The actor is in talks to play the male lead opposite Brie Larson in Marvel's first superheroine-focused movie, "Captain Marvel," according to Variety.
Law would play Dr. Walter Lawson, aka Mar-Vell, who mentors Carol Danvers when she acquires her new powers. He joins a cast that reportedly includes Ben Mendelsohn as the main villain and Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury.
The movie, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck ("Half Nelson"), is set in the '80s and follows Air Force pilot Danvers, whose DNA is fused with an alien's during an accident. She gains powers that include strength and flight.
"Captain Marvel" is slated for release March 8, 2019. Law is currently filming "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald" as a young Albus Dumbledore.
