"Scandal" did not gentle into that good night; the ABC drama went out with an outpouring of tweets from its emotional cast.

Season 7 production wrapped early in the morning of March 17, and the stars of "Scandal" spent the day sharing their thoughts, feelings, and photos on Twitter. Kerry Washington, who starred as ultimate crisis manager Olivia Pope for all seven seasons, tweeted several times over the course of the day. She shared multiple photos with Tony Goldwyn, her co-star and on-and-off onscreen love, and then later wrote that she was "overwhelmed with gratitude."

Meanwhile, other cast members chimed in, too. There were more heartfelt thank yous, emojis, and nostalgic words than we can count. Essentially, everyone wanted to commemorate what was surely a bittersweet moment.

It wasn't just the cast emoting and reminiscing. "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes also tweeted out a message, writing in part, "A lot of tears. A lot of love. Forever grateful for every second."

What a way to go.

The "Scandal" series finale airs April 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
