Is it "Black Panther 2"?

Disney is moving movie furniture all over the place, beyond "Indiana Jones 5" and "Mary Poppins."

In some good news, we finally have a release date for Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent" sequel. Production started on "Maleficent 2" -- or "Maleficent II," if you're fancy -- back in May. Now we know the completed film will arrive on May 29, 2020.

So, yeah. That's two years after the start of filming. A long wait, considering the first film came out in 2014, but hopefully it'll all be worth it.

The cast includes Elle Fanning returning as Princess Aurora, with the ultimate queen Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith, and other roles filled out by Ed Skrein, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Harris Dickson, and Robert Lindsay. Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville are all said to be returning from the first film.

Next topic!

In case you're curious, Disney also scheduled the "Jungle Cruise" movie on October 11, 2019. That film stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Jack Whitehall, Paul Giamatti, Edgar Ramirez, and Jesse Plemons. Also, "Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck It Ralph 2" has been shortened to just "Ralph Breaks the Internet." Now you know.

On to the newly rescheduled Marvel movie.

You know Disney owns Marvel, as well as ABC and Lucasfilm and your soul. When Disney posts schedule updates, they include "Untitled Marvel" films.

There was one scheduled for July 30, 2021 and it was just moved to February 12, 2021. An as-yet-untitled live-action Disney movie will now take that July 30 date.

So which Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is now opening in February 2021? Could it be "Black Panther 2"? That's the going speculation, but it's not the only option. It's also not the only Untitled Marvel movie on the books, so you have to take into consideration the current list:

  • May 1, 2020: Untitled Marvel
  • July 21, 2020: Untitled Marvel
  • November 6, 2020: Untitled Marvel
  • February 12, 2021: Untitled Marvel
  • May 7, 2021: Untitled Marvel
  • November 5, 2021: Untitled Marvel
  • February 18, 2022: Untitled Marvel
  • May 6, 2022: Untitled Marvel
  • July 29, 2022: Untitled Marvel

Those are just the unscheduled ones, beyond what we know is ahead for the MCU in 2019 ("Captain Marvel," "Avengers 4," "Spider-Man: Far From Home") and 2020 ("Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3").

There's an excellent chance "Black Panther 2" is taking one of those dates.  But Tom Holland's third movie in his "Spider-Man" trilogy will probably take one, too. Then there's the "Black Widow" movie, and the "Doctor Strange" sequel, and whatever else Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has up his sleeve.

Yes, "Black Panther" showed that Marvel can rock a February release date (and "Ant-Man and the Wasp" showed that they can sometimes go soft in July), but there's another February date on the above list. We don't know for sure yet.

So stay tuned on the Marvel front.
