"The Affair" is pushing fast forward in its fourth and final season.
The Showtime drama has cast "True Blood" alum Anna Paquin as the adult version of Joanie, the daughter of Alison (Ruth Wilson) and Cole (Joshua Jackson).
The show has always jumped back and forth in time, but this may be its biggest jump yet. Some two or three decades in the future, Joanie returns to a climate-change ravaged Montauk, hoping to piece together the truth about what really happened to her late mother.
At the end of Season 3, Alison was found drowned in the bay and it was believed by authorities that she had committed suicide. Unbeknownst to anybody, she was actually killed by love interest Ben (Ramón Rodríguez).
The big time jump won't be the only change coming to the show. Neither Wilson nor Jackson are returning. Dominic West (Noah) and Maura Tierney (Helen), however, will be back.
