Joey Pants is one of the "Bad Boys For Life."

Emmy-winning "Sopranos" actor Joe Pantoliano will reprise his role as Captain Howard in the third installment of the buddy-cop franchise, joining stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, according to Deadline.

The long-awaited movie has been in the works for many years. The original movie came out in 1995 and the sequel in 2003. Original director Michael Bay first talking about making "Bad Boys 3" back in 2008.

The project has experienced a revolving door of directors, until Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah came on board earlier this year. Smith was able to find time in his busy schedule and finally, filming began in November.

Pantoliano's Captain Howard worked at the Miami Police Department and oversaw Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence).

The plot of the third installment is rumored to find Marcus as a private investigator, with Mike still a police officer. But they team up once again when a bounty is placed on their heads by an Albanian mercenary whose brother was killed by the former partners.

"Bad Boys for Life" is slated for release January 17, 2020.
