15 Most Adorable Movie Animals, Ranked By Cuteness

The only thing we love more than movies? Movies about animals. Especially those of the adorbs variety. Here are 15 of the most adorable animals ever (both live-action and animated) ranked by their cute factor.

15. Nemo, 'Finding Nemo' (2003)

Um, first of all, we already feel sorry for Nemo because… well, have you seen the opening of the movie? But this isn’t some kind of pity addition. Nemo is the most lovable Percula Clownfish to ever grace the silver screen, despite the fact that he’s near-impossible to cuddle. He’s so delightful that we almost feel bad about that sushi we had for dinner last night…

14. Oliver, 'Oliver & Company' (1988)

We’re not crazy cat people or anything (why, what have you heard?) And to be honest, we don’t even like cats all that much. But Oliver is an exception who gives us a serious case of cuteness overload. How cute is he? Well, he’s basically the best-looking one in his all-animal squad of orphans. So cute, in fact, that he manages to charm the pants off a wealthy little girl who ends up adopting him. All of that adorableness and did we mention Oliver is voiced by Joey “Whoa” Lawrence? Stop it, already.

13. Pip, 'Enchanted' (2007)

Whether he’s animated in Andalasia, or trapped in New York City trying to save Giselle from the evil witch, Pip is one delightful chipmunk. We’re still super sad that he had to leave Giselle’s side to go back to Andalasia, but at least he got to publish a book and become a celebrity.

12. Pascal, 'Tangled' (2010)

Pascal is sassy and we like it. Plus, he is basically the only thing that’s been keeping Rapunzel sane for her entire life. If we had to be locked up in a tower and never allowed to leave, we would want Pascal by our side.

11. Sven, 'Frozen' (2013)

Now Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen! On… Sven? So he may not be one of Santa’s and he acts more like a puppy, but “Frozen” fever has officially made this goofy cutie-patootie reindeer a household name. As the song says, “reindeers are better than people.” And who are we to are we to argue with Disney? Also, just look at that GIF. You're welcome.

10. Dog Ottoman, 'Beauty and the Beast' (1990)

If you're gonna go the enchanted furniture route, you can't do better than a half ottoman, half dog. It's science. And magic. Mostly magic.

9. Fievel, 'An American Tail' (1986)

If you’re a child of the ‘80s and “There Are No Cats in America” wasn’t your jam as a kid, then I just don’t know what to tell you, man. Fievel Mousekewitz is the sh*t. He’s got giant ears on a teeny mouse head, his dad’s too-big-for-him-but-somehow-still-adorable hat (the better to cover the ears) and just generally looks like the cutest ragamuffin ever while traipsing around New York City trying to find his family. And for those of you who prefer their cute animals with a side of history, Fievel’s tale (heh, "tale") mirrors the plight of Jews in Nazi Germany. See? He’s not all style and no substance.

8. Babe, 'Babe' (1995)

What's cuter than a pig on a farm? One that talks. With one of the cutest, scratchy voices in the history of always. Producer George Miller ("Mad Max"), with some help from CG, turned Babe into the only animal that we would cuddle despite the fact that it bathes in its own filth. Don't judge us!

7. Baby Penguins, 'March of the Penguins' (2005)

I mean, just look at the little guys -- *heartsplode. These fluffy, chirpy things are Antarctica's Ambassadors of Cuteness, warming even the coldest of hearts with their waddling everything. If there's anything better, we don't wanna know about it.

6. Skip, 'My Dog Skip' (2000)

Step aside, Frankie “Cody Banks” Muniz. You know who the real star of this adorable family film is. That would be the Jack Russell and loyal friend till the end, Skip. How could you not love that cwute widdle face? Nothing makes us feel more feels than a movie about a loving pet, and when the dog is as sweet as Skip, all bets are off. Here come those waterworks.

5. Abu, 'Aladdin' (1992)

Aladdin’s sidekick is cute as it gets -- for a monkey. He can’t talk, but he’s an excellent thief and Aladdin would probably die of starvation without him. Plus, never forget his impression of Jasmine because it was spot-on and also hella charming.

4. Dug, 'Up' (2009)

One word: "Squirrel!"

3. Baby Simba, 'The Lion King' (1995)

This little guy goes from singing about how he just can't wait to be king to, you know, actually being king. Our favorite Simba is the one that comes in baby cub size -- how can you not fall for this lion with the most iconic birth scene ever?!

2. Thumper, 'Bambi' (1942)

Unless you’re Anya Jenkins (that's for you, "Buffy" fans), bunnies are adorable, fluffy balls of love that deserve all the cuddles. Thumper may have a hard time listening to his father’s rules, but our hearts can’t help but melt every time he says “Yes, mother?” While we love Bambi and want to shield him from all the bad in the world, Thumper wins for his next-level of adorableness.

1. Toothless, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (2010)

Who cares if dragons aren’t real -- OR ARE THEY?! Toothless is the most adorable puppy-dragon (that also acts/looks like a cat at times) that we’ve ever seen. He’s playful, fiercely loyal, and, at times, wonderfully weird. And when those big, puppy-dog eyes reach saucer-like proportions, a chemical is released into your brain that renders you stupid. Did we mention he plays fetch? Hiccup must be the most envied dragon rider in Berk.
