ALF is heading back to Earth.

A reboot of the '80s sitcom about the hairy alien is in the works at Warner Bros. TV.  It would reportedly see the titular character (whose name is an acronym for Alien Life Form) returning to Earth to live with a new family.

The original series, which ran from 1986 to 1990 on NBC, centered on a friendly alien named Gordon Shumway who crash lands in the suburban garage of the middle-class Tanners.

Original writers Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco are involved in the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It's unclear if Paul Fusco — the puppeteer and voice actor, as well as the series co-creator, writer, director and EP — will have any role. No network is attached at this time.

"ALF" has continued to remain in the pop culture consciousness, despite leaving the air nearly 30 years ago. The character has appeared or been mentioned in TV shows and movies including "The Simpsons," "Mr. Robot," and "Guardians of the Galaxy."

And of course, reboots of '80s and '90s shows are all the rage right now. "Roseanne" and "Will & Grace" are already on air, "Murphy Brown," "Roswell," and "Charmed" will join them soon, and new iterations of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Frasier" are in the works.
