There was a huge build-up to "The Walking Dead" companion series/spinoff "Fear the Walking Dead," but we only got six episodes in 2015. It felt like the story was just getting started, and we'll see things pick up -- on the high seas -- when Season 2 premieres Sunday, April 10 at 9 p.m. on AMC.

AMC just released some new details, and the first-look photo above (here's a larger version), while adding the discouraging note that the 15 episodes of Season 2 will air in two parts -- the first seven episodes will start in April, with the remaining eight episodes arriving "later in 2016."

Sigh. It's the dreaded mid-season break again, just like the main show (which returns February 14).

FTWD Season 2 started filming last month in the Baja peninsula in Mexico at Baja Studios, which AMC described as "home to some of the greatest ocean-set films in recent years." Obviously that -- and the yacht-set first photo -- hint to how much time we'll be spending on the water this year.

You may recall that Season 1 ended with the characters planning to jump on Strand's yacht to see if they could escape the zombie apocalypse that way. Guessing not! Here's a video with the stars and producers teasing what happens next:
