Fox opted not to renew "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," but fans aren't going to let it go quietly.

News of the series' cancellation came Thursday, and it didn't take long for it to become clear via Twitter that people were very, very unhappy with the news. The hashtags #RenewB99 and #SaveB99, among others, quickly took off; fans everywhere started weighing in on the many merits of the show and how much it has meant to them over its five seasons. Many called for another TV network or streaming services like Netflix and Amazon to save the sitcom.

The wave of support for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has been overwhelming. Celebrities and public figures alike have joined in, including "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, acclaimed musician Questlove, "Star Wars" star Mark Hamill, and British historian Greg Jenner.

Everyday fans were just as vocal, if not more so. Many of them described the impact "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has had.

Needless to say, all this support has been noticed. The show's stars have been moved by the push to save "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," including Stephanie Beatriz (Detective Diaz), Melissa Fumero (Sergeant Santiago), Dirk Blocker (Detective Hitchcock), and Joe Lo Truglio (Detective Boyle), among others.

This might be the push "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" needs to get another season. Here's hoping.
