Hail to the Chief, Dennis Quaid.

The actor will play President Ronald Reagan in a biopic movie directed by Sean McNamara ("The Miracle Season"), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Reagan" will track the titular character from boyhood through his presidency. David Henrie ("Wizards of Waverly Place") will play the younger version of Reagan, while Quaid will play the actor-turned-40th president of the United States. Jon Voight will also star.

The movie will also explore Reagan's acting career, time as governor of California, his role in the destruction of the Berlin Wall, the assassination attempt on his life in 1981, and his final days dealing with Alzheimer's disease.

Producer Mark Joseph told THR that he has met with 50 of Reagan's friends, confidantes and cabinet members in order to accurately portray the details of his life.

"Reagan was a fascinating and multifaceted human being and this movie captures his humanity," Quaid said. "We're making a movie for Republicans and Democrats alike since Reagan transcends politics. I can't wait to get started."

The movie is aiming for a summer 2019 release.
