Congrats, Denzel Washington! The two-time Oscar winner has been selected as the 47th recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award.

The award will be presented at a tribute on June 6 in Los Angeles, which will air later on TNT.

We expect several of his famous costars, including frequent director Spike Lee and Viola Davis (whom he directed to a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in "Fences") will be on hand to toast (or roast) the actor-director.

"Denzel Washington is an American icon," said Howard Stringer, chair of the AFI Board of Trustees. "As an actor, he stands tall as a heroic, stoic embodiment of the best in all of us, and he does so with heart, humanity, and one of the brightest smiles to ever light up the screen. Equally formidable as director and producer, he is a creative force to be reckoned with — and one of the most vital, relevant artists working today. AFI is proud to present him with its 47th Life Achievement Award."

Washington won Oscars for the Civil War drama "Glory" in 1990 and for "Training Day" in 2002. He was also nominated for "Cry Freedom," "Malcolm X," "The Hurricane," "Flight," "Fences," and "Roman J. Israel, Esq."

He has also won three  Golden Globe awards and collected a Tony Award for the 2010 Broadway revival of August Wilson's "Fences."

He made his feature directorial debut with "Antwone Fisher" in 2002 and also directed himself in "The Great Debaters."
