The transformation of "Lost" character Kate Austen from survivor to sexpot was an unfortunate one, and didn't go unnoticed by the actress who played her, either. Now, Evangeline Lilly is speaking out about her experience on the hit ABC series, including the filming of two nearly-nude scenes that still bother her today.

In an interview with The LOST Boys podcast, Lilly lamented the fact that Kate "went from being autonomous, really having her own story and her own journey and her own agendas, to chasing men around the island."

That reversal "irritated the sh*t out of me," the actress told The LOST Boys.

"I did throw scripts across rooms when I read them because I would get very frustrated by the diminishing amount of her own story that there was to play," Lilly said.

That frustration was never more evident than when the "Ant-Man and the Wasp" star said she was coerced into taking her clothes off for a pair of scenes in the middle of the show's run. According to Lilly, Kate wasn't the only one who lost her autonomy.

"In season three, I'd had a bad experience on set with being basically cornered into doing a scene partially naked, and I felt had no choice in the matter. And I was mortified and I was trembling when it finished. I was crying my eyes out, and I had to go on do a very formidable, very strong scene thereafter."

[...]

"In season four, another scene came up where Kate was undressing, and I fought very hard to have that scene be under my control. And I failed to control it again. So I then said, 'That's it, no more. You can write whatever you want — I won't do it. I will never take my clothes off on this show again.' And I didn't."

While we're glad that Lilly found the courage to stand up for herself, it's sad that she needed to in the first place. "Lost" had a lot of problems as it entered the later years of its run; it's a shame that making one of its stars so uncomfortable also had to be one of them. (For the record, The Hollywood Reporter reached out to ABC for a response to Lilly's remarks; the network declined to comment.)
