James Gunn may not be unemployed for very long.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" director was fired a few weeks ago by Disney after conservative personalities dug up offensive Twitter posts he'd made years ago. And despite a statement from the cast supporting Gunn, Disney refused to reconsider its decision.

But it looks like Gunn won't be out of a job long; other major studios, including Warner Bros. (the home of the DC Entertainment movies), are eyeing him to direct movies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I’d work with him in a heartbeat," one senior executive told THR.

While Gunn has received a ton of support in Hollywood ("Guardians" star Dave Bautista even threatened to quit if his script isn't used for the third movie), hiring him would still bring any studio or producer under fire. THR reports Gunn is still negotiating his exit package with Disney, so a "a period of cooling off months" could be just the ticket.

Even his relationship with Marvel may not be over. “An end-all verdict hasn’t been issued and conversations with Marvel are still ongoing,” one source told THR.
