The Stark family is a fiercely loyal bunch on HBO's "Game of Thrones," and that bond applies off-screen, too. Actresses Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, who play sisters Arya and Sansa Stark, proved that this week by getting matching tattoos, which have a "Thrones"-inspired significance.

Tattoo artist Miss Kat Paine (not to be confused with Ser Ilyn Payne) revealed that Williams and Turner popped into her Belfast, Ireland shop earlier this week, posting a smiling selfie with the two actresses on her Facebook page."Got to tattoo these gorgeous girlies today Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner from game of thrones," Paine wrote.

As for what kind of ink the actresses opted for, Paine would only offer a few clues, writing in the comments of her post that Williams wanted to be the one to reveal the tattoo first, and that Turner got the same image. Paine added that the tattoo depicted a date.

Sleuths scouring the actresses's Instagram pages may have solved the mystery, since Williams later shared a snap featuring her and Turner, captioned with the date 07.08.09, or August 7, 2009. (Remember, in the UK, they switch the day and month when writing out dates.)

Mashable seems to have solved the mystery of why this particular date is so important to the pair:

Aug. 7, 2009 was about two weeks before the official announcement that Turner and Williams were cast as Sansa and Arya, which happened on August 20, 2009. So, perhaps Aug. 7 is when the soon-to-be Starks first met at a Game of Thrones callback or read-through.

If that's indeed the significance, it's pretty adorable that the actresses would document the beginning of their friendship in such a permanent fashion. And according to Paine, Williams and Turner said some of their male castmates may also stop into Paine's shop for some new ink while season seven of "Thrones" is in production. Keep your eye on Instagram to see which actor gets the next "GOT"-inspired tattoo.
