Milla Jovovich Talks Joys, Challenges as Nursing Mom During Resident Evil - The Final Chapter

Milla Jovovich pulled double-duty during the filming of "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter."

On screen the actress returns as the avenging, butt-kicking, fast-shooting, motorycle-riding Alice, battling hordes of the undead and new mutant monsters while saying things like, "We're going to kill every last one of them."

Behind the scenes, she was mom to a newborn daughter with husband Paul W.S. Anderson, who's also the director and writer of the six-film "Resident Evil" franchise, loosely based on the video game of the same name.

"I was nursing my 4-month-old when we started production," Jovovich tells Made in Hollywood reporter Kylie Erica Mar. "It was definitely a trip. 'Alice' was nursing a baby on set, and there was a little pink blanket. And there's like dead bodies hanging from the bridge. So it was quite surreal."

Milla Jovovich on the Unexpected Benefits of Being a New Mom During Resident Evil - The Final Chapter

Playing a sexy action hero so soon after having a baby did have its benefits. "It's the first time Alice has boobs!" says Jovovich. "The upside-down-fight? Everybody is like, Whoa!"

Still, it was also a challenge getting into physical condition for the action-horror adventure, which is filled with Anderson's trademark elaborate fight and chase scenes.

"It was a lot of work -- a lot of work -- especially since you're fighting against your hormones, and they're just saying, No we're keeping this weight on," says Jovovich. "And so it was a kind of a delicate of balance I had to get to do that, but still be able to nurse and not have one or the other. I wanted both. In the end I got both."

How Milla Jovovich Got in Shape for Resident Evil - The Final Chapter

She also had to keep up with costar Ali Larter, who like Jovovich hit the gym before shooting.

"She was complaining about being out of shape, but I actually really was out of shape," Jovovich says. "And she comes on set looking perfect. I'm like: Oh, my God, I have so far to go. But thank God I got back into shape. But Ali is like the Terminator. She's unstoppable."

Shooting the film was a family affair for the actress. Along with being with her husband and newborn, Jovovich worked with her 9-year-old daughter.

"It's wonderful to be able to see ourselves together on screen at the same time," says Jovovich. "It was beautiful."
