Just hours after star Reese Witherspoon confirmed the news that "Legally Blonde 3" is, like, totally happening, the film now has an official release date.

MGM revealed on Thursday that the threequel will be hitting theaters on a very romantic date: February 14, 2020. As for what the Valentine's Day holiday might mean for Witherspoon's heroine, Elle, we're not sure, since the plot is being carefully guarded for now. But it's certainly an appropriate choice, considering all the love that fans have been showing for 2001's "Legally Blonde" recently.

Reports of "Legally Blonde 3" being in the works first surfaced earlier this week, when Deadline reported that MGM was putting the project together. Not only is Witherspoon returning to reprise her role, as well as produce, but the first film's writers (Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah) and producers (led by Marc Platt) will also be back, too.

Obviously, this is super exciting news, and there's seemingly endless possibilities for where the story could go next. Witherspoon had previously teased that she'd love to see the series -- which last hit theaters in 2003's "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde" -- explore Elle entering politics, or even pursuing a seat on the Supreme Court. (What, like it's hard?)

We can't wait to hear more about the new flick. Stay tuned.
