Lisa Lynn Masters, an actress who appeared on TV shows including "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," "Nashville," and "Gossip Girl," was found dead by apparent suicide in Lima, Peru earlier this week. She was 52.

The news site Peru21 reported that Masters was found in her hotel room closet after hanging herself with a skirt. Anti-depressant medication was found in her room.

Masters' manager, Christopher Silveri, confirmed her death in a statement. "As to her husband and family's wishes, we hope that the industry can mourn her death without details. In these darkening days, we hope those who have had the pleasure of knowing her will see how brightly she shined and will find that light within themselves and continue to share it with others -- just as she would have."

The actress's credits included a role as Dr. Goodman in season 1 of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." She also appeared in "Nashville," "Gossip Girl," "Ugly Betty," "Law & Order: SVU," and the movies "It's Complicated" and "Stepford Wives."

She leaves behind husband William Brooks. Masters' friends set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for expenses.

"Lisa's genuine warmth, generosity and tenacious strength will be deeply missed," friend Ani Mason wrote. "Lisa's beloved husband William is shocked and grieving her sudden loss. In the midst of his mourning, William faces daunting financial challenges, including the substantial funeral and transport expenses for Lisa in and between Peru and the United States. Our hearts go out to our dear friend William. We will miss Lisa very, very much."
